1. Who we are
This website belongs to The Chocolate Lodge, home of Cooking with Kasha, beside Hazel Mountain Chocolate in Oughtmama, County Clare, Ireland. We are the data controller for the personal information described here. You can reach us at hey@thechocolatelodge.com.
2. What we collect
We only collect what we need to hold your place and to host you.
- When you book an experience: your name, email address, an optional phone number, the number of guests, whether you are staying the night, and the date you chose.
- When you pay: your card details are entered on Stripe’s own secure payment page. They are never seen by, sent to or stored by us. We receive only the payment reference and whether it succeeded.
- When you email us about a room or anything else: the contents of your message and your email address.
We do not collect anything else. There are no analytics or advertising trackers on this site, and we do not buy or receive personal data about you from anyone else.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

We do not send marketing email. If we ever want to, we will ask for your consent first, and you will be able to withdraw it at any time.
4. Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We share it only with the services that make the booking work, each acting on our instructions.

Stripe, Vercel and Brevo are international companies. Where they move personal data outside the European Economic Area they do so under the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
5. Where your data is kept
Your booking details are stored in our own database on servers located in the European Union. Email is handled in the European Union.
6. How long we keep it
- Booking and payment records: six years after the booking, because Irish tax law requires us to keep records of a sale.
- Email enquiries that do not become bookings: up to twelve months, then deleted.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to us using it. You can also ask us to send your data to someone else in a portable format. Email hey@thechocolatelodge.com and we will answer within one month. There is no charge.
Some data we cannot delete on request, because we are legally required to keep records of a sale. We will tell you if that applies and delete the rest.
If you are unhappy with how we handled your data you can complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, or at dataprotection.ie.
8. Cookies
This website does not set cookies and does not track you. The details are in our Cookie Policy.
